What a time to be alive
I haven’t posted much lately, mostly because there’s so many lousy things going on in this world, and I don’t think I can really add anything more perceptive to the conversation. Just about everything in the political and economical space is unnerving, enraging or just plain moronic.
So this post is written to let you know that the water at Wendake Beach is now warm enough for regular, non-wetsuit swimming. On June 23 I was able to do 20 minutes without a problem, but for the next week it was too damn cold for my tastes. After 45 seconds of front crawl I had ice cream headache and didn’t feel like being heroic. So it wasn’t until July 2 that I was back in, and that makes me happy. After the July 2 swim I had an allergic reaction to the pollen in the water, making it difficult to sleep that night, but I’ve come to expect it after the first swim, and knock on wood, hopefully that’s behind me. Having the lake to myself at 7am is fantastic, and looking at the beach and sun over the trees when I turn around at the halfway mark, I remind myself of how lucky I am, and that I shouldn’t complain so much.
The world will be a better place when more people discover their satori, and stop feeling that they need to make others miserable in the pursuit of some kind of satisfaction. Just a thought.
